Overview
The following is an overview of the impact the Powerquote SmartBuild
System has had with IMT sales. IMT begin using the software in 1997.
Challenge
The Iowa Mold Tooling Co., Inc. (IMT) quote and order process was
handled with price pages that had items circled and all data and
math calculations were handled manually, hence potential for human
error. Additionally, there was no guarantee that the items circled
could come together for a unit to be produced.
IMT was looking to automate this process and reduce the amount
of manual interaction and increase the likelihood that the product
quoted/ordered could be manufactured. This meant a quoting tool
that could be managed by IMT and distributed remotely to their entire
dealer network. An array of quoting tool options was reviewed to
understand the flexibility, ease of use, and development process
of each to determine which would be most beneficial to IMT.
Solutions
The PowerQuote software allowed them the flexibility to build a
rules base for the product to insure component compatibility, it
allowed an ease of use for their dealer network, and removed the
need to review each order to insure minimal human error.
Results
Utilizing the PowerQuote software has allowed the quote and order
entry process time to be reduced and insure a higher standard of
quote and order quality. Providing a quote tool to the dealer that
contains a rules base has improved the sales representatives
knowledge of IMT product by not allowing units to be configured
that can not be manufactured.
Also, the higher quality standard for quotes has improved the customer
confidence that he is receiving a product to satisfy his needs.
Concurrently, when the order is sent to IMT from the dealer, there
is greater confidence that the product was quoted properly and that
it can be manufactured with minimal involvement from IMT personnel.
With PowerQuote, the end result for the customer is a faster lead
time from quote to final unit delivery.
